What is COF?

COF (Chip on Flex) refers to soldering the PCI touch controller directly to the FPC tail.

Which host connection interfaces do AMT PCI COF support?

We can provide USB, UART, and I2C interfaces.

What are the advantages of COF?

By integrating the controller IC into the touch panel, less space is required in the mechanism design.  The FPC can be designed to various lengths, widths, and curvatures to facilitate assembly in small product.  COF does not require touch panel end connectors and cables.

The latest generation of PenMount PCI touch controllers can pass IEC 61000-4-3 Radiated Susceptibility (RS) Level III 10V/m and IEC 61000-4-6 Conducted Susceptibility (CS) Level III 10Vrms testing standards.

How are PenMount’s “WP” and “WD” water handling modes defined?

WP (Water Performance):

When there is water on the touch panel surface, no false touch signals are generated in wet areas and single touch operation is available in dry areas.  Once the touch panel is dried, normal touch operation is automatically restored.

WD (Water Detection):

When there is water on the touch panel surface, the controller automatically suspends touch functions.  Once the touch panel is dried, normal touch operation is automatically restored.

How is the calibration procedure performed on a PenMount PCI controller?

PenMount PCI controllers do not require calibration.  The only requirement is matching screen rotation angle for all operating systems.

Can PenMount controllers support PCI panels optically bonded to LCDs?

Yes, we recommend LED backlit LCD panels.  Before selecting your LCD, we suggest confirming the strength of EMI interference emitted LCD options to assess whether an EMI shielding layer must be added to the touch panel.

Are there any restrictions when designing PenMount controller assembly mechanisms?

PenMount PCI controllers can be paired with any PCI touch panel meeting PenMount controller design standards.
