An Ultraviolet Light (UV) Resistant projected capacitive (PCAP) touch screen resists damage caused by direct long-term sunlight exposure. Long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light will affect the appearance of projected capacitive (PCAP) touch screens. The projected capacitive (PCAP) touch screen cover lens hard coat may crack or hazing and varying degrees of yellowing or bubbling may appear. Cracking and bubbling impedes projected capacitive (PCAP) touch screen operation and any flaw will reduce transparency.

Anti-UV Design

On the light spectrum, ultraviolet (UV) light falls outside the range of visible light and has a wavelength ranging from 100nm to 400nm. Ultraviolet (UV) light can be further divided into UVA with a wavelength of 315nm to 400nm, UVB with a wavelength of 280nm to 315nm, and UVC with a wavelength of 100nm to 280nm.

The cover lens of a projected capacitive (PCAP) touch screen blocks ultraviolet (UV) wavelengths of less than approximately 300nm, which includes UVB and UVC. This range does not include UVA, meaning UVA will pass through glass. AMT's Ultraviolet (UV) Resistant projected capacitive (PCAP) touch screen utilizes Anti-UV materials that block UV wavelengths less than approximately 400nm. Using these Anti-UV materials can meet the specifications of outdoors applications.

The AMT anti-UV design PCAP touch panel meets QUV ASTM G154 Cycle 1 for 1,000 hours test standard and can effectively block the damage caused by UV radiation. However, some clients’ applications need to withstand full spectrum light exposure, so AMT uses the weathering tester to simulate further the full spectrum of sunlight (295-800nm). These testers can induce outdoor damage ranging from months to years in a short time. The test results demonstrate that the AMT anti-UV design touch panel can pass the Q-Sun MIL-STD-810H Pro 1 for 1,000 hours test standard, which shows our product is an excellent choice for your outdoor applications!
