AMT Introduces PenMount PM1420 and PM1720 Touch Control Boards
24 Jun, 2026As industrial automation, medical equipment, smart transportation, and outdoor applications continue to grow, the demand for highly reliable and stable touch solutions is increasing. Last September, AMT introduced the PenMount PM1420 Projected Capacitive (PCAP) touch control board, providing a stable and high-performance touch control platform for industrial and advanced applications. To further expand the supported product range, AMT has launched the PenMount PM1720 PCAP touch control board this year, extending support up to 32-inch touch panels and providing a more complete product lineup. At the same time, AMT continues to enhance firmware capabilities and touch technologies, helping customers develop touch solutions that combine reliability, sensitivity, and development efficiency.
Advanced Touch Features for Diverse Applications
Both the PenMount PM1420 and PM1720 are powered by the iBTPS-1104 intelligent touch IC, developed in-house by iBLab. In addition to excellent noise immunity and stable touch performance, PM1420 and PM1720 support several advanced touch features to create a more intuitive and user-friendly interface for different application requirements.
- PadSense: This feature simulates a Force Touch-like operation. Standard PCAP touch panels may generate unintended touches due to light contact or electrical noise. With PadSense, the user must press on the touch panel, and the system recognizes a valid touch only when the controller detects an increase in the touch area. This feature effectively reduces false touches and improves system safety, making it suitable for industrial HMIs, medical equipment, and other high-risk applications.
- Pencil and Thick Glove Operation: Users can operate the touch panel with either a pencil or thick industrial gloves. This feature supports gloves up to 5 mm thick and pencil input, with touch panel sizes up to 21.5 inches. It is well suited for industrial environments, cold-chain logistics, and other special operating conditions.
- Running Water Touch: In the past, AMT could provide touch button solutions for applications with running water. PM1420 and PM1720 control boards can now provide stable single-touch and two-finger operation in running water environments. In addition, even when the touch panel surface is covered with flowing oil in industrial environments, touch operation remains stable.
These features are available through the advanced firmware of the PenMount PM1420 and PM1720. We can optimize touch algorithms and operation modes based on different application requirements, helping customers develop differentiated touch products.
Support for Multiple PCAP Touch Panel Sizes
The PenMount PM1420 and PM1720 support AMT PCAP touch panels ranging from 10.4" to 32". Combined with intelligent noise immunity technology, a high sampling rate, and high touch resolution, these control boards help customers meet the requirements of different display sizes.
- PM1420 control board supports 10.4" to 15.6" PCAP touch panels
- PM1720 control board supports 15.6" to 32" PCAP touch panels
- Multi-mode intelligent noise immunity with high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) design
- Up to 130 Hz sampling rate with 10-point touch support

Installed in Sigma Touch Displays
In addition to supporting AMT PCAP touch panels, PM1420 and PM1720 have been integrated into the AMT Sigma touch display product series. We can also provide Sigma Open Frame touch monitors based on customer requirements, simplifying system design and installation.
- 12.1" and 15.6" Sigma touch displays use the PM1420 control board
- 21.5" Sigma touch display uses the PM1720 control board
AMT continues to invest in PCAP touch technology development and innovation. From touch panels and touch control boards to touch displays, AMT provides a complete product portfolio and technical support services to help customers complete system integration and accelerate time-to-market.
