Although conventional projected capacitive controllers have basic waterproof capabilities, there is still a possibility of false touch when there is too much water or when operating under flowing water. By using the PenMount Aqua Proof PCAP touch solution, it can support applications in environments with water such as bathrooms or outdoors, and supports operating temperatures from -40°C to 85°C, with no false touch occurring regardless of cold, warm or hot water.

PenMount Aqua Proof PCAP touch solution uses the PenMount PM1650 touch control board, which uses a stable and high-performance P2-08 MCU. It inherits the high anti-noise ability of the PenMount PCAP controller and can pass multiple EMS tests, including IEC61000-4-6 Level 2, Criteria A, and IEC61000-4-3 Level 2, Criteria A. At the same time, using PM1650 can perform firmware update, adjust touch sensitivity and parameter tuning through the existing PenMount PCIUtility.

PenMount PM1650 control board has various output interfaces. For example, when customers use the Windows or Linux operating system, the system can identify different buttons by receiving the corresponding HID hotkey through the USB or I²C interface. If it is used in an RTOS embedded environment, it can receive button actions through I²C or GPIO. The GPIO control provided by PenMount PM1650 can be up to 15 pins. In addition to connecting to the customer system, it can also control external devices such as LEDs and buzzers according to customer requirements.
