AMT Low Reflective resistive touch screens are resistive touch screens designed with a polarizer and retarder film for use outdoors or under bright sunlight. Low reflective resistive touch screens reduce the reflection of sunlight to make the LCD display readable. A Low Reflective resistive touch screen effectively reduces light reflectivity to as low as <1.5% so that the LCD display will be clearly visible. Low Reflective resistive touch screens are suitable for products such as hand-held devices, automotive dashboards, machinery, instruments, and ruggedized notebook PCs. Limiting Reflectivity and Boosting Light Transmission

The luminance of an average LCD display reaches approximately 250-500 cd/m². If we place a LCD display outdoors in the sunlight (brightness approximately 10,000 cd/m²), reflected light will be too bright for the user to view the LCD. The luminance of an outdoor use LCD display must be greater than 686 cd/m² to display an acceptable picture. As a result, many enhanced LCD displays, whether built with a polarizer or increased luminance, are available on the market and are designed to overcome the challenges of an outdoor viewing environment.

AMT Low Reflective resistive touch screens use anti-reflective (AR) film to increase light transmission rate to 76 ± 3% and, paired with a polarizer and 1/4 lamba retarder film, lowers reflectivity to <1.5% (standard resistive touchscreen reflectivity: 16% - 22%. By adopting a Low Reflective resistive touch screen, developers will not need to modify their LCD displays to make their products fit for outdoor use.
