PenMount Wishes You a Merry Christmas & Refines PCAP Performance in 2018

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the PenMount Team!  PenMount wishes you happy holidays, peace, and prosperity in 2019.  We would also like to thank all our dedicated readers for your support in 2018.  This year, PenMount not only introduced exciting and powerful functionality into our projected capacitive (PCAP) touch controllers, our team also refined the overall touch control experience to be more expansive, inclusive, and utilitarian.

This year saw the release PenMount standard PCAP controller firmware version 6.0.1 and PCIUtility 1.5.  PenMount PCAP firmware V6.0.1 builds on and strengthens the functionality of V5.0 while refining several key features.  In addition, firmware V6.0.1 utilizes a new, refined, and more powerful frequency hopping algorithm.  This resolved extremely difficult noise issues such as very low frequency interference and allows PenMount PCAP touch solutions to effectively operate in environments our peers cannot.

PenMount began 2018 by releasing our Virtual Key feature for PCAP panels.  These buttons share the touch panel’s PCAP circuit and delivers one touch command execution from anywhere on the panel periphery.   This was followed closely by the PenMount Virtual Key Tools Program and User Guide to provide customers with complete Virtual Key setting capabilities.  By year’s end, PenMount Virtual Key functionality had expanded to support all the actions included on the USB HID(Human Interface Device) Usage Tables.  PenMount Virtual Keys for basic actions are available on standard firmware 6.0.1 and additional commands can be added by request.

As a way to further enhance the ease of customer system development, PenMount introduced several new user-friendly features in 2018.  One example is the touch signal disabled event notification.  As the number of customer applications grows, more and more specific statuses require the disabling of touch signal reporting.  These statuses include “palm on panel,” “noise interference,” and “cleaning screen.”  In all of these cases, the controller will provide an event notification to the system and indicate the reason touch signal reporting was disabled.  When the specific issue has been resolved, the controller will send a notification to the system alerting the user normal touch operation has resumed.

Once again, PenMount would like to thank you, or readers and customers, for your support, patronage, and encouragement.  We would like to wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Hope, and Joy in the New Year.  See you in 2019!
