For instance, standard Ubuntu or Debian desktop systems typically use GNOME as the default desktop environment, which requires higher memory and processing power, making it suitable for high-end x86 or ARM hardware. However, on resource-constrained systems, whether low-end x86 hardware or ARM single-board computers, GNOME might lead to slower performance and a poor user experience. In such cases, lightweight Linux desktop environments are better suited, offering a smoother and more efficient experience.

For ARM single-board computers with limited hardware resources (like Raspberry Pi 4, Tinker Board, BeagleBone Black, etc.), choosing a lightweight desktop environment is a more appropriate option. Examples include LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment), Xfce (XForms Common Environment), and LXQt (Lightweight Qt Desktop Environment).
