PenMount Releases Resistive Multi-Touch Control Board

This month, PenMount has released a new PenMount PM6601 resistive control board for Resistive Multi-Touch (RMT) Solutions. This multi-touch resistive controller is a resistive touch controller featuring two finger touch control and gesture operation.
A RMT touch solution is indispensible for applications that absolutely require correctly verified input and a near-zero tolerance for false touch signals caused by external noise interference. These characteristics are excellent for some applications such as heavy industry HMI and mission critical systems where personal, equipment, and operational safety and accuracy are paramount and where any false touch events can have serious consequences.
In the past, multi-touch resistive panels faced the problem of “ghost points” due to prior detection methodology. PenMount’s RMT touch solution overcomes this limitation to deliver true 2-point touch control.
The PenMount PM6601 control board requires a multi-touch resistive touch panel to unlock the features of a RMT touch solution. PenMount has developed a new resistive touch algorithm which allows the PenMount PM6601 to detect two analog touch signals and enable line drawing, true 2-point operation, and 2-finger gestures.
The PenMount PM6601 is designed to accommodate USB, UART, RS-232, and I2C interfaces. Windows and Linux (kernel 3.4 and higher) inbox drivers can be used with USB and a PenMount Device Driver is available for UART/RS-232 on Windows OS. The Linux (kernel 3.4 and higher) inbox driver can be used for UART/RS-232 on Linux OS. We can also provide a SDK to customers for self-develop of applications and utilities.
The PenMount PM6601 control board supports RMT touch panels from 8” to 12.1” and customers can select a number of different resistive touch panel design constructions when adopting RMT touch panels. These touch panel design options include film-glass (FG) or glass-film-glass (GFG) structure for a more robust touch surface and low-reflective (LR) treatment for outdoor applications.
